What is the playground at your school like? Is it hard and hot and without grass? Or does it have cool, shady trees to have lunch Under – and grassy areas to play in? Is there any bush near your house where you can ride a bike, explore or look for insects? What Would it be like to live in a suburb which had no parks or trees?

Parks are an important part of any city or suburb. They are places where we can relax, exercise and play safely. Some parks have many Trees or are near water. They are good places for picnics and barbecues on weekends. Many people ride their bikes or horses through the parks. Bush land parks are often the only places where native plants are larger animals can survive in the suburbs.

The city and suburb does not have to be an ugly habitat without trees, animals or space to play in. Many suburbs are very beautiful because people care about where they live and they want it to look as good as possible. Instead of blocking out nature, they try to live in harmony with it. They planet flowering shrubs and trees to attract insects and birds and they look after their environment.
